Strategi Institute offers training in all the unit standards (Standard Sets) required to complete the Level 5 Certificate, as well as other Level 5 unit standards in specialist areas such as business risk insurance.
All candidates are provided with their own personal web account page where coursework can be downloaded, assignments submitted, and contact with mentors and assessors can be maintained.
Training is available either in a classroom/workshop situation, via distance learning, or through one-one-one coaching.
Classroom learning
Achievement-driven assessments • Learn from industry experts
We recommend classroom learning for all advisers looking to gain self-confidence and business credibility. It is also appropriate for those who work in the industry, but are not necessarily advisers per se.
Students can either attend a Strategi Institute public course (run in all main centres subject to demand), or we can train groups, corporates and networks in their own offices
Learning is via a combination of pre-course reading materials, ½ to 3-day classroom courses, followed by assignment submission, online exam (in the case of Standard Set B only), or competency discussion (Standard Set C only). On-paper assessments are as close to real life business practice as possible. There is no rote learning, testing from memory or ‘against the clock’ testing (other than Standard Set B).
The benefit of classroom learning with expert tutors cannot be understated. Our trainers, mentors and assessors are drawn from the industry. They are experienced and there to make your studies relevant, practical and career-driven. To help you decide, see Classroom Learning.
Distance learning
No classrooms • Learn at your own pace
Distance learning is for advisers who want to spend as little time away from their business as possible. There is no classroom time, so it is most appropriate to senior financial advisers who have some familiarity with the subjects already and can study and work without the guidance of a tutor. It is not recommended for people new to the industry, or people who work in the industry who are not advisers.
For more information see Distance Learning.
Private Coaching
Strategi Institute trainers are available to train one-one–one with candidates across all the standard sets. Private coaching is ideal for advisers who:
- Need to complete in the fastest time possible
- Are experienced and while not requiring a class, need a quick refresher in some areas to update their knowledge
- Have difficulty in a classroom situation, perhaps through language difficulties.

- Then complete either Standard Set D (if providing advice on investments) or Standard Set E (Insurance Adviser) if only providing advice on insurances that are Category 2 products.
- Complete one Standard Set C option - either the assessment-only, 1-day or 3-day option. Your choice will be determined by your skill level, whether your business is Best Practice Compliant and the standard of your templates and other documentation.
- Complete Standard Set B (one hour online multi-choice examination administered by ETITO). Strategi can provide a handbook plus a half day workshop.
- Once you have your 50 credits and have obtained your National Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice) (Level 5), then refer to Code Standard 14 to ascertain what additional courses need to be attended to obtain the other specialist qualifications necessary to prove compliance with Code Standard 14 - "Before providing a financial adviser service, an Authorised Financial Adviser must have the competence, knowledge, and skills to provide that service."
